The short answer

Finest Van is the highest-rated removal company in London on Trustpilot: 5.0/5 from 1,453 reviews when checked on 30 September 2026, with 99% of those reviews five-star. No other London remover with more than a thousand reviews holds a perfect score.

Behind it, three companies sit on 4.8 - Aussie Man and Van (1,550 reviews), Trunk Logistics (1,258) and Matthew James Removals and Storage (1,129). Fantastic Services completes the top five at 4.6, from a far larger 53,742 reviews that cover its cleaning and gardening work as well as removals.

How we ranked them

Search "best removal companies London" and most of what you find is either a directory sorted by who pays, or a removal company ranking itself first. We use the same published rule as our UK-wide Trustpilot ranking, so anyone can check the order below:

  1. Based in London. The company's Trustpilot address is in Greater London, or - in one case, Trunk Logistics in Grays - just outside it, with London as a stated core service area.
  2. It must actually perform household removals. Marketplaces, couriers and international-only shipping firms are listed separately below, with reasons.
  3. At least 1,000 Trustpilot reviews. London has dozens of well-rated small firms; we set the bar at a thousand so every company here has been tested at scale.
  4. Sorted by rating, then by review count as the tie-breaker.

That is the whole method. There is no hidden score, and nobody paid for a position - we have no commercial relationship with any of the five ranked companies.

The top 5 London removal companies on Trustpilot

# Company Trustpilot Reviews 5-star 1-star Based in Best for
1 Finest Van 5.0 1,453 99% <1% Holborn, WC2A Flat and house moves inside London, including short-notice jobs
2 Aussie Man and Van 4.8 1,550 88% 4% Park Royal, NW10 Price-conscious moves with a BAR-certified firm
3 Trunk Logistics 4.8 1,258 89% 6% Grays, Essex London and Essex moves needing storage or an overseas leg
4 Matthew James Removals and Storage 4.8 1,129 89% 4% Crayford, DA1 South East London moves and relocations to Europe
5 Fantastic Services 4.6 53,742 82% 8% North Harrow, HA2 Renters bundling a move with an end-of-tenancy clean

The 1-star column is worth a second look. Headline ratings round off the differences: Trunk Logistics and Aussie Man and Van share a 4.8, but 6% of Trunk's reviews are one-star against 4% of Aussie's. Fantastic Services' 8% is the highest of the five.

Company profiles

What follows draws on each company's Trustpilot profile, Trustpilot's AI-generated review summaries and the company's own website. Trustpilot's summaries are built from a sample of recent reviews - 161 in Finest Van's case - so treat them as a reading of the recent mood, not the full history.

1. Finest Van

Finest Van logo

5.0/5 from 1,453 Trustpilot reviews (checked 30 September 2026). Family-run since 2009, starting with two vans, and based in Bell Yard, Holborn. It covers home removals across North, South, East and West London, national moves, office relocations, packing, storage and last-minute removals.

What reviewers praise: the consistency of it. Customers repeatedly describe crews that arrive on time, communicate well before the day and handle belongings with obvious care. Packing and furniture dismantling come up often, as does pricing that matched the quote with no hidden extras. A detail several reviewers mention: boxes labelled by room, which makes the unpacking end noticeably easier.

What to check: with 99% five-star reviews there is no recurring complaint to flag - the sample is simply too positive. The website does not state BAR membership or its Goods in Transit cover limit, so ask for both in writing with your quote.

Best for: flat and house moves inside London where you want the strongest review record in the city, including short-notice bookings.

2. Aussie Man and Van

Aussie Man and Van logo

4.8/5 from 1,550 Trustpilot reviews (checked 30 September 2026). Trading for more than two decades from Acton Lane in Park Royal, it says it moves around 350 London homes and offices a week. It is BAR certified (membership A122, per its website - verify on the BAR register) and offers removals, man and van, storage, office and international moves, alongside cleaning and property maintenance.

What reviewers praise: friendly, punctual crews, a straightforward booking system and prices that reviewers describe as among the most competitive in London.

What to check: the complaints, where they occur, are about money and scope rather than attitude - unexpected extra charges, disputes over parking, occasional damage in transit, and confusion over exactly what packing was included. All four are avoidable with a written quote that spells out the inventory, the packing scope and who arranges parking at each address.

Best for: cost-conscious London moves where you still want a BAR member with a long track record.

3. Trunk Logistics

Trunk Logistics logo

4.8/5 from 1,258 Trustpilot reviews (checked 30 September 2026). Based on the Globe Industrial Estate in Grays, Essex, and covering Essex, London, Kent and Hertfordshire as core areas, plus the wider UK. Beyond home removals it runs European and long-haul international moves, packing and storage. It states it runs 25 vehicles with 40+ staff, uses no subcontractors and assigns one coordinator per move, and is a member of the International Association of Movers.

What reviewers praise: crews that are careful with belongings, a smooth survey and booking process, and moves that run to schedule. Several reviewers single out the office team as well as the movers.

What to check: its complaints cluster around the logistics of longer jobs - delivery delays, the occasional vehicle breakdown, space problems in transit and some unhelpful communication. With 6% one-star reviews, the highest share among the four 4.8-5.0 firms here, it is worth reading the recent low-rated reviews and, for a long-distance move, asking how delivery windows are guaranteed.

Best for: moves between London and Essex or Kent, and anyone who needs storage or an overseas leg from the same company.

4. Matthew James Removals and Storage

Matthew James Removals and Storage logo

4.8/5 from 1,129 Trustpilot reviews (checked 30 September 2026). Based at Greyhound Way, Crayford, in the London Borough of Bexley. Its Trustpilot categories cover removals, storage, piano moving and shipping, and its work leans towards UK-to-Europe relocations as well as domestic moves.

What reviewers praise: professional, polite crews who take particular care with valuable items - a point reviewers make most often about complex international moves.

What to check: the recurring complaint is communication about delivery dates, which caused frustration for some customers even where the move itself went well. On an international job, agree the delivery window in writing before you sign.

Best for: South East London households, and London moves to mainland Europe.

5. Fantastic Services

Fantastic Services logo

4.6/5 from 53,742 Trustpilot reviews (checked 30 September 2026). Headquartered in North Harrow, it is a home-services company rather than a specialist remover: its Trustpilot profile covers cleaning, gardening, handyman, pest control and plumbing as well as removals. Its removals service includes house moves, man and van, packing, storage and international removals, priced as a fixed quote after a free video survey.

Read the rating carefully. 53,742 reviews is by far the largest record on this page, but most of it is about cleaning and gardening. Trustpilot's review summary spends more words on spotless ovens than on moving day. The 4.6 tells you how Fantastic runs as a business; it is a weaker guide to its removals than the other four ratings are to theirs.

What reviewers praise: hardworking, polite and punctual staff - movers included - and work finished to a high standard.

What to check: customer service divides opinion more than at any other company here. Reviewers report unexpected ongoing subscription charges, persistent sales calls, missed appointments, scripted responses when trying to fix a booking problem, and a website and app some find hard to use. Its 8% one-star share is the highest in the top five. Check your booking confirmation for any membership or subscription before you pay.

Best for: renters moving out who want the removal and the end-of-tenancy clean from one supplier - the combination is where Fantastic genuinely has no equivalent on this list.

London companies with 1,000+ reviews outside the top five

These also have a London address and more than a thousand Trustpilot reviews. They are listed so the ranking above can be checked against the full field:

Company Trustpilot Reviews Why it is not in the top five
Crown Relocations 4.6 1,253 Qualifies, and ties Fantastic Services on rating with fewer reviews. Focused on international and corporate relocation
London Man Van (LMV Transport) 4.4 1,242 Qualifies; lower rating
Removals Zone 4.4 1,371 Qualifies; lower rating
Anglo Pacific International 3.9 1,505 International shipping specialist; lower rating
Shift 3.1 6,962 Qualifies; lower rating
AnyVan 4.6 205,848 A marketplace matching jobs to independent drivers, not a removal company with its own crews. MovingCost.co.uk is an affiliate partner of AnyVan.
Kanguro 5.0 1,260 A Poland-based international mover specialising in UK-Poland and European routes rather than London household moves - excluded on the same basis as in our UK ranking

Smaller London firms with strong records

The 1,000-review bar is deliberately high, and it leaves out some very well-reviewed London firms. If your move is local and you value a smaller operation, these had strong ratings from 500+ reviews on the same date:

Company Trustpilot Reviews Based in
Pask's Removals & Storage 5.0 583 Eltham, SE London
Alexanders Removals & Storage 4.9 689 Chase Road, NW London
Vertigo Transport 4.9 639 Oxgate Lane, NW London
Steve The Greek Man And Van 4.9 522 Maida Vale, W London
Anthony Ward Thomas 4.9 503 Acton Lane, NW London

A 5.0 from 583 reviews is real evidence, just less of it: one bad move shows up faster in a smaller sample. Our UK ranking explains why review volume matters in more detail.

A note on Holdem Removals: Holdem holds 5.0 from more than 1,800 reviews and covers London, but it is based in Northampton, so it falls outside a London-based ranking. It appears in our UK list. MovingCost.co.uk has a content relationship with Holdem, which is why we mention the omission rather than leave you to wonder about it.

What a London removal company should cost

London removals carry a premium of roughly 40-60% over the UK average, and the reason is operating conditions rather than greed. A crew that fits two local jobs into a day in Leeds manages one in London: slower traffic, the Congestion Charge in the central zone, ULEZ, parking suspensions at both ends and a high share of flats without lifts.

As a guide, a local move within London typically runs £500 to £900, and a move out of London £800 to £1,800, depending on property size, access and distance. See our London removals page for costs by property size and route, or get a figure for your own move from the removal cost calculator before you start collecting quotes.

Two London-specific ways to keep a quote down:

  • Arrange parking suspensions early at both addresses - most boroughs want at least five working days' notice. A failed suspension can add an hour of carrying time at each end.
  • Move mid-week and mid-month. Weekends, the last week of the month and school holidays are when London removal prices peak.

Trustpilot is not enough

A rating is a starting point. Before you book any company on this page or off it, check:

  1. Companies House - the company exists, is active, and the name on the quote matches the register.
  2. Goods in Transit insurance - the cover limit, and whether self-packed boxes are excluded.
  3. Public Liability insurance - and the amount.
  4. A written, itemised quote that lists the inventory, packing scope and any parking arrangements - the source of most London disputes.
  5. Whether the price is fixed or an estimate that can move on the day.
  6. Waiting-time and access charges - stairs, long carries and missing lifts are common London surcharges.
  7. Cancellation terms, and the notice at which charges begin.
  8. Who physically performs the move - the company's own crew or a subcontractor.
  9. BAR membership where claimed, verified on the BAR register rather than from a logo.
  10. Recent low-rated reviews - the one- and two-star reviews from the last six months, not the lifetime average.

Editorial independence

This ranking is computed from Trustpilot rating and review count using the rule above, and nothing else. We have no commercial relationship with Finest Van, Aussie Man and Van, Trunk Logistics, Matthew James Removals and Storage or Fantastic Services. We are an affiliate partner of AnyVan, which is listed as a marketplace and not ranked, and we have a content relationship with Holdem Removals, which is outside this London ranking.

Anyone can reproduce the order: open the linked Trustpilot profiles, apply the four criteria, and you should arrive at the same list.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which London removal company has the best Trustpilot rating?+

Among London removal companies with more than 1,000 Trustpilot reviews, Finest Van had the highest rating when checked on 30 September 2026: 5.0 out of 5 from 1,453 reviews, with 99% of them five-star. Aussie Man and Van, Trunk Logistics and Matthew James Removals and Storage followed on 4.8.

Is Fantastic Services good for removals?+

Fantastic Services held a 4.6 Trustpilot rating from 53,742 reviews on 30 September 2026, but that score covers all of its services - cleaning, gardening, handyman, pest control and plumbing as well as removals - so it is not a removals-only score. Reviewers praise the crews; the recurring complaints are about customer service, booking changes and unexpected subscription charges rather than the moves themselves.

Why is AnyVan not in the London ranking?+

AnyVan is a marketplace that matches jobs to independent drivers rather than a removal company with its own crews, so its Trustpilot score measures the platform rather than the people who carry your furniture. Ranking it beside removal companies would compare two different things. MovingCost.co.uk is an affiliate partner of AnyVan, which we disclose on this page.

How much does a removal company in London cost?+

A local London move typically costs £500 to £900 and a move out of London £800 to £1,800, depending on property size, access and distance. London prices run roughly 40-60% above the UK average because of traffic, parking suspensions, the Congestion Charge and flats without lifts. Use a cost calculator to set a baseline before comparing quotes.

Can I trust Trustpilot reviews for removal companies?+

Trustpilot ratings are a useful signal but not proof. They reflect customers who chose to leave a review, and a high rating from a small number of reviews is easy to move. Look at the review count, read the one- and two-star reviews from the last six months, and check Companies House, insurance cover and a written quote before booking.
